Church Plant Spotlight: Live Free Church

As we embrace being BOLDLY FORWARD, NEVER ALONE as Fellowship Pacific, one of the key ways we live this out is through church planting and we are excited to share more stories from our church plants this year! This month we want to introduce you to Live Free Church in Kelowna, BC!

Kolby Milton had always felt a call about planting a Church in Kelowna, the city where he was born and raised until grade 8. He just never felt ready to plant a church and so spent many years working in various Fellowship churches as a Youth Pastor.

But then, in 2018, Kolby felt the call that it was time and went through the assessment process to become a church planter. One of the really difficult things about that decision, however, was that it meant leaving a community that he and his kids called home. But as he prepared, he began to ask people within their community if they would consider joining him in the mission God was calling him to and planting in Kelowna with him.

In the end, twelve people made the move to Kelowna in 2019 to plant a church! There was lots of excitement, but little did they know that they were about to face a once-in-a-hundred-years event called COVID-19. It put everything on hold as they worked on building a church plant team. Their initial launch, planned for Easter Sunday in 2020, had to transition to a digital experience, which was a real struggle in the early days. They persevered though, and as they began to reach people in Kelowna, they realized that they were encountering the people that they had envisioned reaching – people with little to no church exposure.

For Kolby and the Live Free team, nothing has been easy about planting a church in Kelowna – a fast-growing community that is largely secular. But they have been growing and seeing God at work in their own personal lives, and in the people they are reaching. There is still such a long way to go, but they are steadfastly remaining faithful to the call that God has put on them for this community.

Would you join us in praying along with Live Free Church?
